Tekijöinä 250 talkoolaista / All together 250 volunteersvap

Maailmancupin kilpailut onnistuminen oli valtava talkootyön voimannäyte. Tapahtuman aikana mukana oli 250 talkoolaista. Paikallisten ohella vapaaehtoisia tuli tapahtuman tekijöiksi eri puolilta Suomea.

– Suunnistaja-lehden mainos houkutti mukaan, Heini Jokinen Helsingistä kertoo.

Jokinen tuli suunnistuksen maailmaan talkoiltuaan partiolaisten porukassa vuoden 2016 Jukolan viestissä.

– Varsinaisen suunnistuskärpäsen pureman sain seuraavana vuonna, kun osallistuin viestiin itse.

Nykyisin Jokinen on aktiivinen toimija Helsingin Suunnistajissa. Tulevana maanantaina hän on ensimmäistä kertaa iltarastien ratamestarina. Lastukoskelle hän halusi vapaaehtoiseksi, koska on partiolaisena nähnyt, miten iso urakka tapahtumien järjestämisessä on. Viikonlopun aikana hän on ollut maalialueella emit-seurannan tarkistuksessa.

Sirpa Suhosella ja Eino Launosella on kummallakin vuosikymmenten kokemus suunnistustapahtumissa talkoilusta. Heitä voi hyvällä syyllä kutsua Kuopion Suunnistajien talkooperinteen kantaviksi voimiksi.

Suhonen on ollut mukana jo 9-vuotiaasta ja hänelle on 50 vuoden aikana kertynyt kokemusta monista eri tehtävistä. Lastukoskella hän tekee kaikkea, mitä milloinkin tarvitaan.

– Talkoilu suunnistuksen hyväksi on elämäntapa ja vietän mielelläni vapaa-aikaani erilaisissa suunnistustapahtumissa. Rakkaus lajiin kulkee meillä suvussa, hän sanoo.

Eino Launonen on Lastukosken tapahtumien turvallisuuspäällikkö. Vastuullisesta tehtävästä kehkeytyi hänelle luonteva uusi ura, kun päivätyö poliisina vuonna 2010 päättyi. Toki kokemusta erilaisista tapahtumista oli siinä vaiheessa jo 30 vuoden varrelta.

– Minulle on luontevaa kantaa vastuuta ja pidän uusista haasteista. Saan tästä vapaaehtoistyöstä hyvää mieltä.

Launonen nimettiin tehtäväänsä viime syksynä ja viimeset viikot hän on talkoillut tapahtuman hyväksi täysipäiväisesti.

All together 250 volunteers

The success of the World Cup competitions was a huge example of the power of volunteer work. During the event, there were 250 persons in different tasks. In addition to the locals, there were volunteers from different parts of Finland.

– The advertisement in Suunnistaja -magazine attracted me, Heini Jokinen from Helsinki says.

Jokinen entered the world of orienteering in the 2016 Jukola Relay. She was there organizing activities for children within the scouts’ group.

– The following year I participated the relay myself.

Nowadays, Jokinen is an active member of Helsinki orienteering club. Next Monday, she will be the cource setter in the evening races for the first time. He wanted to volunteer for Lastukoski because, as a scout, she has seen how big a job it is to organize events. During the weekend, he has been in the finish area checking the emit monitoring.

Both Sirpa Suhonen and Eino Launonen have decades of experience in orienteering events. With good reason, they can be called the forces that carry the work tradition of Kuopion Suunnistajat -association.

Suhonen has been involved since she was 9 years old and has accumulated experience in many different positions over the course of 50 years. At Lastukoski, she does everything that is needed at any time.

– Working for orienteering is a way of life and I like to spend my free time in various orienteering events. Love for the sport runs in our family, she says.

Eino Launonen is the security manager for the Lastukoski events. A new career developed naturally for him when his day job as a police officer ended in 2010. At that point there was already 30 years of experience in various events.

– It’s natural for me to take responsibility and I like new challenges. I feel good about this voluntary work. Launonen was appointed to his position last fall, and for the past few weeks he has been working full-time for the event.
