Alexandersson odotetusti voittoon/Alexandersson won as expected

Naisten keskimatkan kilpailu tarjosi tänään jännitystä, sillä neljä parasta mahtuivat lopputuloksissa minuutin sisään. Voiton vei odotetusti ja selkeällä erolla Ruotsin Tove Alexandersson.

– Kilpailu meni hyvin, mutta välillä jännitti, kun piti mennä pelkällä suunnalla kokovihreän läpi. Tänään oli nopea kisa ja paljon hyviä juoksijoita. Tiesin, että pitää laittaa kaikki peliin koko ajan.

Simona Aebersold nosti sijoitustaan kilpailun loppupuolella viidenneltä sijalta toiseksi. Hän varmisti samalla maailmancupin kokonaiskilpailun voiton. Iloinen suunnistaja kertoi voiton olevan hänelle todella iso asia.

– Kauteni on ollut todella hyvä ja fyysinen suorituskykyni on parantunut.

Kolmanneksi suunnisti Norjan Marie Olaussen, neljänneksi ylsi Ruotsin Hanna Lundberg. He olivat tasoissa vielä vajaa kilometri ennen maalia.

Paras suomalainen oli jälleen Venla Harju, joka sijoittui seitsemänneksi. Alkumatkan nopeimmin suunnistanut Norjan Andrine Benjaminsen teki kolmen kilometrin kohdalla ison virheen ja jäi lopputuloksissa kahdeksanneksi. Ilman virhettään hän olisi ehkä taistellut kilpailun voitosta.

Alexandersson won as expected

The women’s middle distance race offered excitement today, as the top four were within a minute in the final results. As expected, Sweden’s Tove Alexandersson won by a clear margin.

– The competition went well, but sometimes it was shaky when you had to go through the green area without possibilities to check your position. Today was a fast race and many good runners. I knew I had to put everything into the game all the time.

Simona Aebersold increased her ranking from fifth place to second towards the end of the race. At the same time, he ensured the overall victory of the World Cup. The happy orienteer said that the victory was a really big thing for her.

– My season has been really good and my physical performance has improved.

Norway’s Marie Olaussen was third, Sweden’s Hanna Lundberg finished fourth. They were even just under a kilometer before the finish line.

The best Finn was again Venla Harju, who finished seventh. Norway’s Andrine Benjaminsen, who navigated the first distance the fastest, made a big mistake at three kilometers and ended up eighth in the final results. Without the mistake she might have fought to win the race.
